THE FISKER KARMA

Luxury leads the way for the driver – and the environment – with the world’s first Fisker Karma eco-chic car created in equally eco-friendly facilities. The Fisker Karma’s dramatic proportions and sumptuous design offer smile-inducing performance. And the interior lets four adults and luggage travel in comfort. With zero emissions. Zero compromise. And a cleaner conscience than ever before.
THE NATURE OF TECHNOLOGY
The Fisker Karma uses Q-DRIVE plug-in hybrid technology, developed exclusively for Fisker Automotive by Quantum Technologies. A fully-charged Fisker Karma burns no fuel for the first 50 miles. Venture further and the gasoline engine turns a generator to charge the lithium ion battery. Once the 50-mile electric range has been exceeded, the car operates as a normal hybrid vehicle. This balance of electric and gas range makes it entirely possible that Karma drivers who charge their car overnight and commute less than 50 miles a day will achieve an average fuel economy of 100 mpg (2.4L/100km) per year.
THE NATURE OF BEAUTY
Environmentalism has never been more beautifully infused with elegance and style. The Karma's designer Henrik Fisker has taken the automotive hybrid to a new level of performance and style. With zero compromise in either category.
You’ll need to be belted-in after it’s been plugged in at take-off. Fisker lists a 0-to-60 mph time of 6 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph that its generated from the 403-horsepower engine. On top of all this heart-pounding excitement are the economics of scale: 100 miles per gallon and zero emissions are sent through the tailpipe.
Features include a sculpted body, 22-inch wheels, trunk space for two sets of golf clubs, a 10.2-inch haptic touchscreen control center, reclaimed wood trim and an available animal-free interior trim package.

Designed at Fisker’s HQ in southern California, Karma was first shown as a concept vehicle in 2008. Initial customer deliveries are scheduled for late this year, as dealer models begin arriving in showrooms. Fisker Automotive expects to reach full production of up to 1,500 cars per month by early 2011. Nearly 1,600 Karmas have already been spoken for.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
The Fisker Karma is a series Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powered by a lithium-ion battery and an efficient 2.0-liter range-extending gas engine. The engine only turns a generator, which sends electricity to two electric traction motors attached to the rear differential.
The Karma has a 300-mile range with a full battery charge and a full tank of gas. The first 50 miles are electric-only and emission free. The battery can be recharged in less than six hours using the same 220v household current that powers some major appliances. The Karma can also be charged using standard 110v power from any electrical outlet.
“The Karma’s plug-in hybrid technology is nearly invisible to the driver in terms of drivability and range,” said Eulberg. “It leverages our existing gas and electric infrastructure to deliver an exciting, eco-friendly vehicle you don’t have to think twice about using the Karma for short or long trips.”
